Frequently Asked Questions

Do You Accept Health Insurance?

No. We find we're better able to cater to our patients' needs and see them much more quickly without navigating insurance red tape. We ask patients to pay at the time of service, which allows us to continue providing the best quality care and increase our availability. This “cash only” model offers real benefits: more time to spend with you, flexibility in number of visits (insurance often limits how many times you can be seen), reduced cost, more choices in treatment options, and transparent billing with no surprises in the mail months later.

Do You Offer Child Counseling Services?

Absolutely. Our counselors are trained in childhood and adolescent psychiatric disorders and offer compassionate counseling for kids and their parents, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, social anxiety, OCD, bullying, and learning disorders.

What Mental Health Conditions Do You Treat?

We specialize in a variety of mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, chronic pain, addiction and substance use disorders, eating disorders, anger management issues, and personality disorders.

What Is Ketamine Therapy?

Ketamine has traditionally been used as an anesthetic in operating rooms. Research supports its use in smaller doses as a treatment for certain mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, addiction, and more. The use of low-dose ketamine in conjunction with psychological counseling is known as Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). Learn more about ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.

How Is Ketamine Administered?

At The Crane Center, we utilize two types of ketamine therapy: a nasal spray, and an intramuscular injection. Schedule a consultation to see if this therapy is right for you.

What Are Ketamine Therapy Side Effects?

As with any medication, ketamine therapy can produce side effects, generally mild and temporary. The most common include dizziness, nausea, disorientation, drowsiness, and pain or redness at the injection site (if receiving it via intramuscular route).

Who Is Not A Good Candidate For Ketamine Therapy?

While ketamine is generally safe, it's not appropriate for everyone. Your provider will discuss your medical history thoroughly. Ketamine may not be recommended if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, an active substance abuse disorder, an uncontrolled heart condition, or a history of adverse reactions to ketamine. Learn more about who should not take ketamine.

Do You Prescribe Medical Marijuana?

Doctors do not actually ever “prescribe” medical marijuana. We are licensed in Florida and follow all state laws and regulations to make qualified recommendations for medical cannabis when appropriate for our patients. Learn more about medical cannabis referrals.

Do You Prescribe Anti-Depressants?

Yes, we have the ability to prescribe anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication when indicated. This includes SSRIs, such as Zoloft, Paxil, and Lexapro, and NDRIs, such as Wellbutrin.

What Primary Care Services Do You Provide?

We have a full-service primary care team dedicated to fostering holistic wellness and coordinating your healthcare with other specialists — school physicals, well woman visits, vaccinations, DOT physicals, bloodwork, rapid flu testing, rapid COVID testing, and more. Explore Primary Care.
